Robert Half Bookkeeper in Los Angeles, California

Description

Robert Half is looking for a bookkeeper to join our client, a CPA firm based in West Los Angeles on a temp to hire basis. The Bookkeeper will play a key role in supporting our clients' financial needs by maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in bookkeeping principles and practices, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a CPA firm or similar professional services environment. This position is hybrid, primarily based on site in West Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping duties for clients, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Prepare and process client payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Reconcile client financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation.

  • Prepare and file various tax-related documents and reports, such as sales tax returns, payroll tax filings, and 1099 forms.

  • Communicate with clients and internal stakeholders to gather necessary information, address inquiries, and provide support as needed.

  • Stay current on accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and provide accurate and timely advice to clients.

  • Support senior staff and partners in providing exceptional client service and meeting firm

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably in a CPA firm or professional services environment.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation or willingness to pursue certification is a plus.
