How will you make an impact?
The Applications Support Development Manager drives product leadership through a focus on the organization's cell biology, molecular biology, sequencing, and real-time PCR technologies. This role will leverage our industry leading Services and Support organization, and more specifically, Applications Scientists to exceed customers' product support expectations.
What will you do?
Represent Technical Applications Scientists (TAS) and Field Applications Scientists (FAS) as part of new product development teams.
Establish strategy, training, and support plans for key New Product Introductions (NPI).
Host regular meetings with Applications Support Managers to ensure alignment and NPI readiness.
Partner with Product Managers (PMs) and other business counterparts to ensure Service and Support needs are met.
Ensure Service and Support compliance, training, and readiness for regulated applications (diagnostics).
Oversee the implementation and support of processes for instrument systems sold into the human in vitro diagnostics (IVD) market
Produce comprehensive, effective, and actionable readiness plans to achieve desired support goals.
Engage in the strategic decision-making and process improvements process to ensure optimal support for a diverse portfolio of new and existing products.
Adapt to and utilize new technologies to enhance operations as required.
Communicate key initiatives to leadership and establish clear operating mechanisms for customer-facing employees.
Establish visibility to product applications-related information and activities within the Services and Support organization.
Works closely with Training Specialists to ensure front-line staff training needs are met.
How will you get there?
B.S. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of Life Sciences industry experience; preferable including service and support and/or research and development.
Experience with GMP, regulatory markets, or clinical environments
People management experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledgeable in the applications of real-time PCR, CE sequencing, next generation sequencing, cell biology, and molecular biology technologies and associated products.
Ability to create and understand effective business models to support new business development
Understanding of Global IVD Regulatory requirements
An understanding of product marketing and the product commercialization process.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
Proven leader, problem solver, and relationship builder.
Ability to partner with, and plan projects to appropriate levels of details to achieve consensus among team members.
Experience communicating with customers and understanding their needs.
Understands the systems, processes, and procedures employed by phone- and field-based support scientists.
Ability to lead projects and motivate cross-functional team members.
Strong organization skills and ability to multitask.
Willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and international)
