Los Alamos National Laboratory Occupational Health Student - Undergraduate in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Are you interested in learning about the business of occupational medicine?

This is an exciting new opportunity to work with the Occupational Health Leadership Team to learn the business processes of the Occupational Medicine clinic. You will be a key contributor to the process of continuous improvement and the development and leverage of meaningful business metrics.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of business operations.

  • Interest in learning the business of healthcare administration in an occupational medicine clinic

  • Interest and/or experience in continuous process improvement.

  • Ability to support a high level of operational excellence.

Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds and carry 5-10 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment:

  • Work location will be onsite at the Occupational Medicine Clinic Facility.

Training/Certifications: N/A

Education/Experience:

  • Provide documentation of acceptance into an undergraduate program.

  • Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester (or the equivalent of full-time enrollment).

  • Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale.

  • Pass a new employment drug test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

  • Working skill with office products like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
