MAT Holdings, Inc Business Unit Controller in Long Grove, Illinois

This is a highly visible role with significant opportunity for growth. Reporting to the business unit Controller with a dotted line to the business unit General Manager, this position is embed within the business unit to ensure the accuracy of the financial and cost information as well as provide management with the information and analysis to make decisions critical to the success of the business.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality, accuracy and timeliness of all accounting results and management reports and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and internal controls

  • Participate in the month/year end close processes for the business unit

  • Compile and evaluate data needed in forecasting, budgeting, and cost control

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for management properly explaining any variances against plan

  • Develop and report business unit level KPIs

  • Assist in the development of standard costs and analysis of variances

  • Analyze customer profit margins and gross margins and explain any variances against plan

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Assist in coordination of external audits

  • Facilitate the budget process in its entirety while being accountable for the financial presentation deliverable to the board

  • Perform cycle counts and full physical inventories as needed

  • Involves about 25% travel to production facilities

Competencies:

  • Possess excellent computer skills with an emphasis in Excel

  • Analytical, self-motivated, able to work alone or within a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Requires ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Proficiency in processing and summarizing large amounts of data for various analyses and reports

  • Strong communication skills

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. Accounting

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • 3-5 years of increasingly responsible accounting experience

  • Manufacturing experience a plus

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • SAP experience a plus
