AIG International FP&A Expense Lead in London, United Kingdom

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to join our team in a global role where you will be supporting the business leads for expense budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analytics, across International Commercial and Global Personal.

Our Finance team plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy balance sheet at AIG. It delivers significant finance support for the overall enterprise, optimizing operations, controllership, funding, and capital structure to honour our stakeholder commitments. The team’s work is invaluable to informing leadership decision making, complying with regulatory requirements, and maintaining financial discipline, transparency and controls, while providing timely and meaningful information.

How you will create an impact:

  • Establish and run the expense reporting and analytics cadence across GI International, which will support the monthly expense framework (forecast & actuals), budget, quarterly business reviews and analytical reviews.

  • Serve as a point of contact on expenses for GI International, providing subject matter expertise and issue resolution on expense systems, reporting and process challenges.

  • Support CEO, CFO and Business Leadership Teams with reviews, analytics and guidance on options and outcomes to steer business leads towards improved outcomes.

  • Implement and monitor expense management framework to control expenses and promote expense efficiency.

  • Coordinate budget/forecast approach for expenses, and liaison with HQ Business Leads to monitor against plans.

  • Monitor and challenge regional expense actuals, forecasts and budget. Actuals reviewed monthly to ensure accuracy of forecast and focus on key drivers.

  • Monthly expense report out.

  • Enhancing and improving routine management information.

  • Coordinating International expense forecasts and budgets through liaising with Global Expense Leads, Regional Expense Leads, Project Teams, IT, HR and NA Finance

  • Support earnings (on a quarterly basis), to add insights across expense initiatives, drivers and actions to be reported in the quarterly earnings packs

  • Analytical deep-dives and ad-hoc reviews; Ratio analytical reviews, Parent Allocations, GPC and GMF reviews, allocations, investments and building options for executive reviews and decisions

What you’ll need to succeed

  • A qualified accountant with significant experience in expense management and reporting

  • Strong experience of establishing processes and procedures

  • Strong operational experience and ability to work to demanding deadlines.

  • Highly analytical mind with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues.

  • Strong negotiation skills to lead challenge and challenge the status-quo
