The primary functions of an Underground Construction Technician are to install, expand and maintain ALLOs underground conduit system safely and efficiently. While this position is in a home market some travel, up to 50%, might be required based on the needs and schedule of construction. Duties for this position can be physically demanding and require working in an outdoor construction setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare trench areas for the installation of conduit, pedestals and other ALLO structures.

  • Install, maintain, and expand ALLOs conduit network in preparation of underground fiber installation.

  • Use appropriate heavy equipment, hand, and power tools to properly erect all components necessary for lifting, moving, and installing underground materials in accordance with the applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

  • Construct, install, and splice varying sizes of conduit in or alongside open trenches in a variety of different working conditions.

  • Troubleshoot all aspects of the conduit network to ensure the successful installation of ALLOs underground fiber-optic network.

  • Accurately locate underground cable and duct using cable locator and other methods

  • Read and understand provided maps to identify the placement of ALLO conduit network.

  • Verify the accuracy and notate any discrepancies relating to re-entry of all existing splice enclosures.

  • Maintain all equipment.

  • Provide a safe working environment by being knowledgeable, enforce all state, local, and company safety procedures.

  • Operate and maintain company-owned vehicles.

  • Inspect vehicle daily and maintain a valid drivers license and commercial license if applicable.

  • Maintain on-call responsibilities relating to emergency restoration as assigned.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • While this position is based in a home market, some travel up to 50% may be required based on the needs of the construction schedule.

  • Must be able to obtain CDL A combined truck and trailer with in 60 days of accepting this position.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous exposure to outdoor/underground construction is desired, but not required

  • DOT physical will need to be passed with 30 days of employment

  • A CDL (Commercial Drivers License) or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment will be required
