Staff Data Engineer, Advanced Operations

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for establishing and optimizing data pipelines to bring together information from different source systems, ensuring the seamless integration of equipment and systems into our network, and driving efficiency in data operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure resources, Highbyte Intelligence Hub, experience working with REST API's and configuration of databases, such as SQL.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement data pipelines, connecting, collecting, and storing data in usable formats for downstream applications.

  • Design and develop Azure solutions and virtual applications.

  • Setup and manage MQTT data brokers ensuring efficient and secure communication through the MQTT protocol.

  • Configure front end dashboard views for visualization of data.

  • Network Integration and Security

  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate equipment into the network following Stryker security procedures.

  • Configure network cards, switches, and establish firewall rules to ensure secure and reliable data transfer.

  • Collect data into a structured functional and semantic unified name space.

  • Learn and adopt new tools and techniques to increase performance, automation, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with a cross functional team to achieve project goals and deadlines.

  • Lead in the validation of tools used in the data engineering pipelines and processes.

  • Configure and manage database for normalized and contextualized storage of data from a wide range of data types.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science or related engineering discipline with 4 or more years' experience or a related master's degree.

  • Proficient with scripting languages such as Python, Java R and SQL programming languages.

  • Proficient in the use of ETL tools and REST oriented API's

  • Good understanding of data lakes/data warehouse solutions such as Hadoop/Snowflake

  • Familiarity with the HighByte platform preferred

  • Familiarity with scrum/agile methodologies

  • Familiarity with unified name space approach to data sharing.

  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Be open minded with the ability to recognise good ideas.

  • Innovative thinker - should be able to envisage new and better ways of doing things.

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks.

  • Experience with Industrial Controls
