Location: Johnson and Johnson Vision Care - Limerick Ireland

Contract: Permanent/Full-time

Vision Care Ireland is located in Castletroy, Limerick and is the producer of the world’s leading contact lens products. Our site uses the industry’s most advanced technology and directly employs over 1000 people. We produce a diverse array of contact lenses using our highly automated production process.

Key to our success has been the combination of state-of-the-art material science with technologies such as precision injection moulding, robotics, vision systems and data analytics.

We have over 38 advanced production lines manufacturing over 8 million contact lenses a day, which are shipped to customers worldwide.

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

The focus of the Manufacturing Reliability Technician role is to provide front line support in the resolution of systemic Manufacturing Equipment issues and identifying and eliminating Yield, Cycle-time and Up-time performance detractors and implementing Intrinsic Process Capability Projects on current technologies.

  • The manufacturing reliability technician will contribute to and support the design, installation and improvement of the lens production processes and equipment.

  • Edits and publishes troubleshooting documentation and training materials for materials, and equipment.

  • Strong analytical approach to problem solving and brings innovative solutions to equipment.

  • Works closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of troubleshooting methods to equipment and processes.

  • Identify and lead cost and technical improvements under the departments’ Intrinsic Process Capability program on current technologies.

  • Project Management - provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities.

  • Actively interfacing with cross-functional team members, always practicing good teamwork in support of day-to-day operating requirements.

  • Develop and maintain a Credo & Behavioural Standards based culture within the group.

  • Support the implementation of all engineering and plant strategic initiatives.

  • All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.

Qualifications

We would love to hear from YOU if you have the following essential requirements:

  • Hold as a minimum a QQI level 6 engineering certificate or equivalent qualification.

  • 3 years’ experience in a process technician role or related

Desirable:

  • Level 7 or 8 or relevant engineering qualification or be working towards this qualification.

  • Familiarity with equipment validation in an FDA environment.

  • SME on 2-3 Core technologies.

  • Experience on the technology (2GT, 3GT, 4GT) in the Value Stream for which the Role is being advertised for.

  • The ability to apply a scientific approach to problem solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximize productivity and yields is an essential requirement.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Be able to demonstrate good project management and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail.
