Physical Requirements | Lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally, pushing and pulling as well as driving. Walking and standing for long periods of time. |
Shift | Days, 8am to 4:30pm primarily but other hours as needed to cover needs of the department. |
Job Summary | The Injury Prevention Coordinator will provide oversight of the trauma program’s Injury Prevention efforts. As the leader, develop and implement injury prevention programs for the community based on needs assessment, trauma data analysis, and community request. Collaborates with local and state community leaders to develop, implement, and conduct community prevention programs. Takes an active role with Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRIC), the Kentucky Safe Aging Coalition, Stop the Bleed, Saddle up Safely, Think First, Project Peace, and ONE Lexington to assist in the development of injury prevention resources, provide community education, and research throughout the Commonwealth. Assumes key leadership role in facilitating hospital and community based injury prevention education tours such as Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) by the American Trauma Society (ATS) to address the emotional challenges and provide peer support to improve long-term outcomes for trauma patients. Organizes and hosts annual TSN Celebration Day. Partners with UK Philanthropy for grant writing and funding to support injury prevention efforts. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | 4 years RN experience preferred in Emergency Department, ICU or Trauma Program/Injury Prevention. |
