Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Accountant to join our team. The Plant Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities related to our plant operations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of the plant, providing financial analysis and insights to support decision-making, and implementing and maintaining robust financial controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.
Provide variance analysis and explanations for financial performance against budget and forecast.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and make recommendations to improve financial performance.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process for the plant, collaborating with plant management and corporate finance.
Develop accurate forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and operational insights.
Monitor performance against budget and forecast, identifying areas for improvement or cost savings.
Cost Accounting and Control:
Establish and maintain effective cost accounting processes to accurately track production costs.
Analyze manufacturing variances and work with operations teams to drive cost reduction initiatives.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard plant assets and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Inventory Management:
Oversee inventory management processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and physical inventory counts.
Monitor inventory levels and aging to optimize working capital and minimize obsolete inventory.
Capital Investment Analysis:
Evaluate capital investment proposals and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
Assess the financial feasibility and ROI of capital projects, considering factors such as NPV, IRR, and payback period.
Financial Planning and Strategy:
Collaborate with plant management and corporate finance to develop long-term financial plans and strategies.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business initiatives and drive profitability.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of [Insert number of years] years of experience in financial management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
