Lockheed Martin MACHINE TOOL OPERATOR (Lexington, KY) in Lexington, Kentucky

Description:

You will be a Machine Tool Operator for our team, specializing in operating various machine tools to machine metal for use in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, aircraft components, and other products. Our team is responsible for performing difficult machining operations with a high degree of accuracy.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Machine Tool Operator, you will be responsible for planning and performing complicated machining operations, setting up machine tools, and determining proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequences. You will work closely with our team to achieve requisite dimensions to very close tolerances.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

•Operate various machine tools, including 3, 4, and 5-axis machining CNC machines, grinding machines, lathes, and milling machines

•Plan and perform difficult machining operations with complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy

•Set up machine tools, including installing cutting tools and adjusting guides, stops, working tables, and other controls

•Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequences or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints, or layouts

•Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to make necessary adjustments during machining operations

•Select proper coolants and cutting and lubricating oils, recognize when tools need dressing, and dress tools as needed

•Work Monday through Thursday, 4:00pm to 2:30am (2nd shift)

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access and is in direct support of a U.S. government contract that requires a company-sponsored clearance to start.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must be able to maintain secret level security clearance, be willing to be moved to different machines with different tasks as workload demands. A background in manufacturing is a plus.

Candidate must possess basic computer skills and be able to check email daily as well as perform computer based annual training.

Desired Skills:

• Waterjet and 5-axis CNC machining experience a plus.

• Experience in a "job shop" environment where the same product isn't produced everyday a plus.

• SAP experience a plus.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Rotating 40 hour week as assigned by leader
