JOB SUMMARY
The Behavioral Health Professional provides direct intervention with students as directed by the individual treatment plan, corresponding with Mainecare Section 65 regulations.
The Renaissance School is an educational and psychiatric day treatment program for primary and middle school special education students between 5 and 15 years of age, and is licensed by the Maine Department of Education as a "Special Purpose Private School." It is licensed as a children's Behavioral Health Day Treatment program by DHHS/Mainecare. All children served are referred by the sending Pupil Evaluation Team due to having a behavioral impairment or emotional disturbance which severely impedes their ability to receive education in the sending school. All children served by the Renaissance School have a diagnosis under DSM V which necessitates psychiatric care.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
ED Tech III Certification Required
Must be eligible for and meet the credentialing requirement for a School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (SB-BHP)
Proof of State of Maine Fingerprinting Required
BLS Certification Required
Experience:
1-3 years previous experience preferred
Must begin BHP training within 30 days from date of hire; Must obtain certification within 1 year of hire
Other Skills Required:
Ability to handle multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure
Physical interventions require brief but extreme periods of physical exertion to manage out-of-control student behaviors.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
