Dartmouth Health Supervisor Facilities Engineering in Lebanon, New Hampshire
Overview
Oversees and supervises all general maintenance and repair mechanics and general maintenance operations to ensure safe and high-quality service is maintained. Provides leadership support across other shops within Facilities Engineering as needed.
Responsibilities
Supervises shop/section personnel. Recommends employment, disciplinary action, and termination. Completes annual performance appraisals on all assigned personnel, and provides counseling and coaching. Schedules staff to provide adequate coverage.
Evaluates the operations and maintenance practices on equipment or systems. Plans modifications, rebuilds, and/or replacements to achieve more cost effective operations and improve reliability. Develops a 5 year equipment replacement/upgrade schedule for planning/budgeting projections.
Instructs personnel in operation and repair of equipment or systems. Develops procedures for equipment and system operation and back-up plans. Maintains and instructs classes on equipment, equipment policies, emergency backup and/or redundancy plans for critical system failures for off hour, weekend, and holiday personnel.
Contributes technical engineering support to design group and construction management staff for projects. Reviews drawings and equipment specifications, reviews construction progress, schedules inspections, assists in the commissioning of equipment and systems upon completion, verifies as-build drawings and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, and sets up preventative maintenance plans. Plans supply needs for proposed projects.
Provides section reports, shift logs, requisitions, work schedules, monthly reports, inspection reports, work order documentation, and labor reports. Completes detailed utility equipment/system failure reports.
Schedules personnel for preventive maintenance work, work orders, and problems.
Completes cost and time estimates, and/or obtains estimates from outside contractors, for proposed work or purchase and installation of new equipment. Recommends acceptance of bids. Coordinates, inspects, and approves work performed by outside contractors.
Orders parts and supplies to maintain inventory. Conducts competitive price checks. Recommends equipment purchases. Assists the Director in planning budget.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in field of technical specialization required
4+ years of supervisor experience required
Qualifications by trade specific demand.
Required Licensure/Certifications
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H’s Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
Obtain ASHE Health Care Physical Environment Worker Certification within 90 days of hire.
