Pre-Op PACU Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Pre-Op/PACU Nurse responsible for setting up prior to surgery and managing recovery plans for patients post-surgery. This role involves providing and educating patients on pre-operative and post-operative care for both inpatient and outpatient procedures. The position is a combination of pre-op and PACU nursing, handling patient admissions, creating comprehensive pre-operative care plans, and ensuring immediate post-operative care and stabilization for discharge, as confirmed and approved by physicians. The nurse will also coordinate pre-operative lab work and make pre- and post-op phone calls.

Responsibilities

  • Set up prior to surgery and manage recovery plans for patients post-surgery.

  • Provide and educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care for inpatient and outpatient procedures.

  • Handle patient admissions to the facility.

  • Create comprehensive pre-operative care plans.

  • Ensure immediate post-operative care and stabilization for discharge, as confirmed and approved by physicians.

  • Coordinate pre-operative lab work.

  • Make pre- and post-op phone calls.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Ortho, Spinal, Podiatry, Surgery Center, Specialty, Pulmonary, Ear Nose Throat, Vascular, Cardiology, Operating Room.

  • KS RN license.

  • BLS certification.

  • ACLS certification.

  • PALS certification.

  • At least 3 years of experience in operating room/surgery.

  • Experience in ambulatory/outpatient/OR.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Office administration experience.

  • Patient care experience.

Work Environment

This position operates in a surgery center unit with a Monday to Friday day shift, requiring 3-12 hour shifts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr.
