Working 10 hour shifts and every other weekend once fully trained (6:00 am - 4:00 pm). Training Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 6:00 am to 2:00 pm (3-6 months of on the job training) Starting Wage: $20.54 Double Time on Sundays The Laboratory Technician I is responsible for supporting production by analyzing a variety of samples using different test methods; performing microbiological and/or physical tests on raw material, in-process products and finished products. Daily tasks include the receipt of samples, determining methods by reviewing procedures and specifications, testing samples (reporting any abnormal reactions to Laboratory leadership), documenting, and reporting of results, and cleaning and stocking the work area. The Laboratory Technician I is also responsible for daily maintaining laboratory equipment and performing routine quality control checks. What you need: Perform chemistry and/or physical sample preparation and testing. Responsible for equipment operation, calibration, cleaning and minor maintenance. Analyze and report laboratory data, verifying interpretation with more senior Technicians or leadership. Demonstrate functional and technical knowledge, ability to learn new skills quickly, and achieve a high level of accomplishment. Accurately enter all required data into log books, spreadsheets and the reporting system as appropriate. Perform general lab cleanup and organization; restocking supplies as needed. Follow work instructions set forth by Test Procedures (TPs), Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Maintain a clean work place that is free of safety hazards. Troubleshoot issues or concerns with Supervisor/Management. Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, establish priorities, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisors/managers, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the organization. Follow one- or two-step verbal instructions; read and follow written instructions; perform routine and repetitive tasks and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and field-specific software. Demonstrate attention to detail, quality and cleanliness in work. Ability to extract, analyze, and act on information with limited supervisory input. Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree or some c ursework in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Where you'll be working: Our presence in Le Sueur, MN, consists of the following locations: Le Sueur Cheese, Le Sueur Ingredients, Le Sueur Protein Research Center, and Le Sueur Business Office. Our cheese facility produces various types of cheese, including cheddar, Monterey Jack, Asiago, Fontina, Parmesan and Romano. Our ingredients facility runs various whey streams, including; whey protein isolate (WPI), whey protein concentrate 34 (WPC 34), whey protein concentrate 80 (WPC 80) and both pharma and food-grade lactose.
