Job Description:

75% - Lab Assistant

  • Assist lab leaders in developing arguments and conducting research.

  • Assist students in their research assignments.

  • Provide lectures to lab at request of lab leaders.

25% - Other

  • Judge tournament debates.

  • Participate in all camp activities.

  • Must be able to listen to and follow directions.

  • Must be able to take on a position of authority

Work Schedule:

All positions: Full time, 40 hours/week with the possibility of overtime.

Between hours of 9:00 am and 11:00 pm

The two positions are:

  • Two-week camp runs June 23 - July 6, 2024.

  • Three-week camp runs June 23 - July 13, 2024.

FLSA Status:

Nonexempt

Required Qualifications:

  1. Extensive policy debate experience at both the high school and college (NDT/CEDA) levels as demonstrated in application materials.

Advertised Salary Range:

$20.00 minimum

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience with coaching high school or college (NDT/CEDA) policy debate

  2. Prior success in debate competition on the college (NDT/CEDA) level

  3. Previous experience working at a debate camp

Position Overview:

The Jayhawk Debate Institute will occur this year on the following dates:

  • Two-week camp runs June 23 - July 6, 2024.

  • Three-week camp runs June 23 - July 13, 2024.
