Position Overview

As a newly graduated surveying technician you will play an actual role in the survey department. You will also be involved in the estimating department.

District Overview

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. Location

This role is based in Laval, Quebec.

Responsibilities

• Survey office calculations : Data treatment, data analysis and storing done with a AutoDesk program Civil 3D and TBC (Trimble Business Center)

• Quantity calculations :

  • Cut / Fill Excavation and backfill

  • Access roads corridor and volume

  • Concrete structure volume

• Drafting : Making plan view, profile view and sections views for excavation and roads.

• Occasional field support as a surveyor

Qualifications

• Diploma : DEP – Vocational School in Surveying Technician

• Basic knowledge of Civil 3D, Trimble, Network adjustment and Inroad are an asset.

• Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to perform calculations (area, volume).

• Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate and mentor teams.

• Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in quality and production.

• Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team.

• Good written and verbal communications skills (French and English).

• Committed to working safely and getting the job done right the first time.

• Willing to combine office work with field operations.

Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.
