TAD PGS, Inc. Intellectual Property Paralegal in Laurel, Maryland

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to ensure the effective operation of the IP section and other parts of OGC.

  • Process incoming IP disclosures for input into the Laboratory's IP database.

  • Prepare outgoing forms and correspondence for attorney signature.

  • Review and route incoming correspondence from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Prepare USPTO correspondence for filing by a patent attorney.

  • Maintain due dates for patent cases in the Laboratory's IP docketing system.

  • Coordinate with other parts of the Laboratory.

  • Monitor a list of tasks related to IP work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Basic Hiring Criteria:

  • Have completed a high school education or equivalent.

  • Have experience working with IP matters.

  • Have a working knowledge of USPTO filing systems.

  • Have experience with a patent docketing system.

  • Have knowledge of US patent prosecution and maintenance.

  • Possesses strong organizational skills.

  • Have a working knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Have completed an Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Have at least three years of experience as an IP paralegal, preferably with patent preparation and prosecution matters.

  • Have a working knowledge of databases such as Wellspring's Sophia and Computer Packages Inc. (CPI).

  • Have knowledge of research and development in a government contracting setting.

  • Are qualified, or have the ability to become qualified, as a notary public.
