Description:
Summary: Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and procedures. Delivers exceptional guest service. Follows all operating procedures, safety regulations and Stratosphere policies and procedures. Take and serve food orders at the bar utilizing suggestive selling techniques in a non-intrusive manner.
Essential Functions:
Greets the guest in an upbeat and positive manner
Uses non-intrusive suggestive selling techniques to sell beverages and food items at the bar
Takes beverage and food orders and serves food and beverage items according to service standards
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of wines, including variety, region, and characteristics of the wines
Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and procedures
Serves and replenishes drinks in a timely manner, offers refills or new drink when the glass is half full.
Resolves guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction and communicates situation to management
Accepts payment for check from the guests, settles using approved method, and tenders change or receipts back to guest, ensuring all required signatures are obtained.
Follows cash and comp procedures
Extends courteous departures as guests leave and invites them to return
Maintains knowledge of hotel services and local activities in order to respond to guest inquiries
Monitors and maintains cleanliness and hygiene of work area, bar tops, floors and line equipment
Receives, issues and keeps necessary records of liquor and other bar supplies
Refills and stocks garnishes and glassware
Maintains appropriate sound and music levels as designated by management
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Qualifications/Requirements:
At least 1 year of previous bartending experience providing high-touch guest service
preferably within an upscale bar and/or lounge atmosphere
Knowledge of wines and liquor and wine service techniques
Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm in a very high-paced, busy environment
Ability to handle a cash bank
Previous experience exercising sound judgment when dealing with difficult guest situations
Previous experience with point-of-sale systems, computers and calculators
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least 21 years of age

Frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Walking or standing up to 100% of the time, including movement on slippery and/or narrow surfaces
Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity 75% of the time.
Vision, hearing, speaking and literacy (critical).
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working inside in a noisy, smoky, and hot or cold environment
