Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers Drivers - Multiple Locations in Las Vegas, Nevada

JOB DESCRIPTION: DRIVER

Accountable to: Transportation Manager / Field Supervisor (in the absence of the Manager) / Administrator / President and CEO

Qualifications:

  • General - Certified by a Nevada licensed physician within 6 months prior to employment to be in good health including freedom from communicable disease and no physical limitations.
  • A 2-step TB skin test is required to be completed prior to start of employment, followed by an annual 1-step TB skin test or a blood test called Quantiferon Gold ordered by a physician. If presented with a documented history of positive skin test, a one time CXR and an initial TB Questionnaire will need tobe completed. The TB Questionnaire will then be required annually.
  • A 10-panel Drug test is required within 30 minutes after job offer with a negative result.
  • A 7-year history of criminal background check via Occuscreen will be performed after a negative Drug test is received.
  • Applicant/Employee will be required to submit a self-requested printout of their 10 year MVR history from the DMV and may have no more than 1 demerit point. Reports showing convictions may require approval for hire from contracted brokers (RTC and MTM).

Education/Experience:

  • Current Nevada Driver's license
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in transportation services is required.
  • Experience in transportation of the elderly and/or physically and mentally challenged adults preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. without any restrictions.
  • Able to bend and squat, push and pull wheelchairs.
  • 25 years of age per insurance requirement.

Abilities:

  • In addition to the responsibilities detailed in this job description, the Driver will need to be able to:
  • Understand the needs of the elderly and, in particular, the needs of those with cognitive impairments (memory problems, confusion, disorientation)
  • Be sensitive to the needs of family caregivers
  • Be available to work unscheduled days and hours for coverage
  • Be able to take on extra trips in addition to regularly scheduled trips as needed
  • Demonstrate good communication skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the routes used in transporting clients and of roadways in the Las Vegas/Henderson service areas
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and to understand a road map or MapQuest or GPS
  • Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain care, organization programmatic objectives which may entail performing duties not included in this job description.

Responsibilities of the Driver:

The Driver is responsible for assisting and safely transporting clients to and from the Center. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Performing Daily Pre-Trip Checklist of vehicle

Reporting immediately to the Director of Transportation, Transportation Manager or Field Supervisor any problems related to the vehicle, routing or scheduling

Reporting immediately to the Program Director/Administrator/Nursing any problems observed or encountered while transporting clients

Safe assistance and transportation of clients including escorting door to door, following the laws on the road, and making sure clients are received by a family member or authorized designee when being dropped off, unless authorized to be dropped off alone (Authorization Form will need tobe signed and on file).

Any citations due to violation of the laws on the road will be the responsibility of the driver, including payment of bail amount.

Responsible for cost of repairs for damages to property and/or vehicle caused by careless driving or failure to follow warning signs to avoid damages.

Responsible for handling of clients' personal belongings, medications and family communications which willbe conveyed from the clients' residence to the Center and vice versa

Responsible for ollecting transportation fares from clients (if applicable) and submitting fares to Transportation Manager upon receipt

Maintaining good rapport with family caregivers and participants

Maintaining good rapport with the community
