The Home Health Aide is a member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient’s needs. The home health aide is responsible for observations and documenting observations and care performed. The home health aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient’s care.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities of the home health aide are outlined in the plan of care, including but not limited to:

  • Baths

  • Back rubs

  • Oral Hygiene

  • Shampoos

  • Changing bed linen

  • Assisting patients with dressing and undressing

  • Skin care to prevent breakdown

  • Assisting the patient with toileting activities

  • Keeping patient’s living area clean and orderly, as appropriate

  • Assist with food preparation, if requested/needed

  • Taking and recording oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse respiration and blood pressure when ordered

  • Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care

  • Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered

  • Remind patient in the self-administration of medication

  • Doing patient’s laundry, as appropriate

  • Meeting safety needs of patients and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, etc.)

  • Reporting on patient’s condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse

  • Adhering to the Agency’s documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Ongoing attendance at education/in-service programs as deemed necessary by management

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification issued by the State of Nevada Board of Nursing and a person who has successfully completed a State-established or other training program that meets the requirements of 484.36(a) and a competency evaluation program or State licensure program that meets the requirements of 484.36(b) or (e), or a competency evaluation program or State licensure program that meets the requirements of 484.36(b) or (e) ( An individual is not considered to have completed a training and competency evaluation program, or a competency evaluation program if, since the individual’s most recent completion of this program(s), there has been a continuous period of 24 consecutive months during none of which the individual furnished services described in 409.45 of this chapter for compensation)

  • Current CPR certification

  • 1+ years of experience in health care

  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License and maintain personal auto insurance coverage

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience in home health care

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, basic math skills, and nursing skills per competency checklist

  • Complies with accepted professional standards and practices

  • Basic PC skills to include Window, Outlook and Other email systems

  • Must be able to prioritize and communicate objectives clearly

  • Experience working with electronic medical record application required

Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
