1st Shift Forklift Operator

1st Shift: 6:00 am-4:00 pm $16.50/hour

Located in Lansing

 

These forklifts are larger than normal. This position involves a lot of getting up and down/on and off the forktruck and works outdoors

 

All forklift drivers will start in a General Labor role while being trained to operate the forktrucks. Training may start a few weeks or more into their temp to hire period. Pay increases will come when they are hired in $18.25/hour .

 

Forklift Operator The main purpose of the Forklift Operator is to operate a powered industrial truck to load and unload materials and move them to and from storage locations, production areas and distribution sections for shipping and receiving. 

 

Forklift Operator Accountabilities

  • Load and unload materials from truck trailers and railcars.      
  • Stack items safely in the correct storage bays. 
  • Locate and move all stock of products.
  • Identify product damages. 
  • Work in loading and production departments as assigned. 
  • Utilize RF Scan Gun for all functions and movement of material.
  • Responsibly follow all safety procedures and policies, working together with co-workers to ensure a safe workplace environment and culture. 

Forklift Operator Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relative experience, consistency with employment of companies, valid driver's license. 
  • Experience operating 6,000-8,000 PIT required.  
  • Hydro-static forklift experience preferred.
  • General Lumber and/or building materials knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in all elements of an outdoor environment year-round. 
  • Reading, Writing, and math competency demonstrated by high school diploma or equivalent.

     

General Labor Description: 

As a Stacker and Splitter, smoothly and efficiently split & package lumber into a unit size of proper dimension, grade, quality & piece count. As a Tagger, accurately tag all units. Willingness to work in multiple departments as necessary.

  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Assist the planer supervisor in inventory checks at the discretion of the planer supervisor.
  • Communication
  • Make certain that all lumber is run out before shutting down operations unless otherwise directed.
  • Pick up and dispose of all sticks and broken lumber.
  • Inspect work station, staple/nail gun, and air lines daily to ensure preventative maintenance can be done.
  • Responsibly follow all safety procedures and policies, work together with co-workers to ensure a safe working environment, and reports all accidents or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Wrap needed products with paper wrap.
  • General cleaning duties
