Job Title: Procedural Supply Sourcing Specialist

Entity: LGH

Location: Lancaster General Hospital - 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602

Hours: 1.0 FTE (40 Hours per week), Day Shift

Summary:

  • Performs diversified duties to coordinate the sourcing of materials, supplies and related items. Provide a consistent flow of supplies through the department and maintain proper inventory movement and control. The incumbent increases efficiencies by acting as a liaison between the vendors, Materials Management department and Procedural departments. Diligently communicates any issues related to inventory control, supply shortage, recall, or conflicts to the vendors, Procedural departments and the Materials Management department as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Sources, secures, and otherwise provides the Procedural areas’ supplies. Monitors delivery of all articles needed for timely and efficient services.

  • Coordinate supply inventory flow with vendors, Materials Management and the procedural staff to minimize backorders, out of stock, expired product, excess stock, and inventory returns. Communicates and oversees work associated with product recalls.

  • Functions primarily as resource provider for all supplies on all types of procedures involving and requiring conformance with techniques and procedures. Responsible for the proper handling and storage of all supplies.

  • Proactively oversees QSight or similar software related to point of use replenishment process as well as other specialty supplies.

  • Responsible for the requisitioning of needed / additional supplies. Coordinates supply requirements with vendors and provides updates on inventory availability and delivery status.

  • Reviews changes in case load and makes appropriate supply adjustments to ensure adequate quantity of supplies are available.

  • Identifies emergency situations and responds in a calm and efficient manner. Recognizes surgical complications and anticipates corrective measures to ensure resolution is in place to avoid any reoccurrence.

  • Has a clear understanding of environmental control techniques and handles any supply under the guidelines of conformity.

  • Responsible for analyzing productivity and standards for process and workflow improvements.

  • Utilizes techniques for Best Practice in Inventory Control. Acts as liaison with hospital members to ensure Best Practice measures are clear and communicated. Monitors for compliance in procedure standards.

Credentials:

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

  • Two (2) years of experience in a medical supply management or warehouse environment. (Required)

  • One (1) year experience with software applications such as inventory management, equipment tracking, and bar code systems. Computer skills. (Required)

  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program. (Required)

  • Associates degree in business or related medical or supply chain field. (Preferred)

  • Three (3) years of experience in medical supply management. (Preferred)

  • One (1) year of experience in Lawson inventory ERP application. (Preferred)

  • Advanced computer skills. (Preferred)
