Summary: The director of field engineering will build and lead a team of engineers and architects delivering on infrastructure, data, and other cloud technologies to customers in their region(s). This individual will set the strategy, hiring, staffing, learning plans, and career development of field team members. They will interface with pre-sales leaders, and offshore delivery leaders to build a successful delivery business in their region. Scope/Level of Decision Making: Manager of managers, responsible for regional subset of field engineering scope and OKRs Location: Remote, preferred in one of Chicago, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Reston, New York metro areas Primary Responsibilities: Build and lead a team of engineers and architects delivering on infrastructure, data, and other cloud technologies in their region Set the strategy, hiring, career development plans for the team Interface with pre-sales leaders, and offshore delivery leaders to build a successful delivery business Manage business health metrics, including utilization, revenue, and profitability Scope new engagements Support ongoing delivery programs with technical escalations, code and architecture reviews Interface with pre-sales leaders, and offshore delivery leaders to build a successful delivery business Qualifications & Skills Hands-on experience with GCP architectures, system design, technical program leadership Working knowledge of the the Google Cloud ecosystem is preferred Experience in customer-facing pre-sales or consulting roles, including stakeholder management at the VP-level or higher Strong analytical skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization Experience leading technical teams Experience making hiring decisions Experience scoping services engagements GCP Certification(s) Preferred experience in one or more of the following industries: public sector, healthcare & life sciences, telecommunications Bilingual in Spanish or French is preferred, but not required Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Evidence of continued education and personal development throughout their career is preferred.
