HX5LLC Aerospace Data Application Engineer in Lakewood, Ohio

Aerospace Data Application Engineer Aerospace Engineer I NASA Glenn Research Center Cleveland, Ohio HX5 is an award-winning provider of engineering, research and development, and technical services to clients such as NASA and the Department of Defense. Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide. HX5 is currently seeking an Aerospace Data Application Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The selected candidate will support the growth, refinement, and improvement of the NASA Glenn developed software package, GRC Communication Analysis Suite (GCAS), that is used for the analyses of selecting potential landing sites on the Moon for the Artemis III, IV, and V, missions as well as other relevant lunar missions being planned by industry partners. GCAS was developed to simulate potential orbits of spacecraft and to optimize characteristics of a mission in a visual representation and synthesize data related to mission constraints, figures of merit, and the logistics of orbital trajectories in its analyses. In order to facilitate the analyses required for determining the optimum Human Lander System (HLS) site locations, GCAS will need to efficiently provide accurate results to support the decisions that will need to be made by various stakeholders. To that end, understanding the output data as well as the means for its visual representation will require the selected candidate to understand the underlying modeling and simulation methods used in GCAS and its Visualization tool. The site availability assessment process requires the synthesis of information that includes geological and environmental properties, spacecraft capabilities, mission design factors, launch window opportunities, and communication availability. In addition, verification and validation activities will be performed to facilitate confidence in the analyses and results that are provided to HLS stakeholders. Primarily, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following: Improve and enhance GCAS capabilities to support HLS needs and goal Support conversion of the Matlab-based GCAS code to C++ Support development of the GCAS Visualization tool in C++/Vulkan Update GCAS documentation due to software modifications and improvements Attend and participate in weekly meetings to provide status and support collaboration between the multi-NASA-center HLS site availability team The selected candidate will support the HLS Site Availability Lead and the lunar landing site availability analysis team.
