JF Petroleum Group Controller in Lakeland, Florida

JF Petroleum Group is seeking an experienced Controller to join and lead the Accounting team from our Construction division. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of superior leadership, problem-solving and be willing to participate in hands on accounting tasks. This person must also be well-versed in GAAP accounting and have experience overseeing medium to large-sized companies with emphasis in Construction Accounting (ASC 606).
Essential Functions:
- Execute and maintain effective and timely financial closings
- Manage and oversee all billing for the company
- Responsible for accurate and timely financial statements
- Implement new initiatives that promote efficiency in department and throughout company
- Quarterly balance sheet reconciliation
- Collect data and create Ad hoc reports for CEO, President and Operations
- Resolving various accounting/reconciliation concerns and issues
- Oversee AP/AR functions including overseeing invoice processing and intercompany reconciliations
- Review financial results and present to management
- Key member supporting annual financial audit
- Demonstrated Superior Leadership Experience to oversee the accounting team
- Detail-oriented, collaborative attitude is necessary to partner with accounting team, other departments, auditors, and customers
Requirements
Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
- Advanced Accounting degree from an Accredited University (Bachelor's Degree and MBA or MA required) CPA, preferred
- 5+ years' experience in a senior accounting position
- Proficient in GAAP accounting, construction accounting (ASC 606), general ledger, A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, daily cash receipts and statement preparation, financial reporting
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to travel, as necessary.
- Employer conducts Screenings. Must be able to meet company's employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR, if driving for the company
- Physical Requirements: include occasional lifting/carrying of 10 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
