DESCRIPTION

Apply advanced knowledge of Assembly & Test Engineering practices and principles to determine the technical tasks at the sub-system and/or component level for current and future products. Lead the development of departmental plans and deliverables, and provide technical consultation and advice to managers, manufacturing personnel, and other functions. Identify opportunities for Continuous process improvement through deployment of 5S, Kaizen, Error Proofing and Value Stream Mapping to review manufacturing processes to eliminate waste, improve quality, and reduce production time and cost. Provide technical inputs and direction for Manufacturing, and lead change management initiatives. Use Manufacturing Health and Safety Fundamentals to champion and model proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace. Utilize Variable Geometry Turbocharger Balancing Process including single or double plane Static balancing and Multi plane dynamic balancing to reduce mass. Manage New Product Development for assigned functional areas including test development for new products, designing assembly line and stations, developing test methods to check the performance of a product and implement automated test tools and strategies of components in a manufacturing environment. Select manufacturing equipment which meets company manufacturing specifications and meets the project or program needs using experience with equipment and capital procurement. Review plan and design methods to improve efficiency in New Product Introduction and provide technical guidance to support capital acquisition, capacity planning and change control. Create standard work methods for new and current production lines to establish costs, throughput times, capacity levels and manpower plans. Identify relationships and patterns through data mining and data visualization techniques to understand the underlying structure of the data and enable sound conclusions upon model building. Demonstrate capability in organizing and improving the steps of how workflow should occur by using the current documented Manufacturing Business Model Application and key practices used to drive improvements within the business to show a common framework for manufacturing functional excellence within the company. Utilize knowledge of Capital Project Management and Reporting to understand the requirements for purchasing tools and equipment according to developed production equipment specifications. Use digital tools including Manufacturing Analysis Led Design to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment and performance to make data driven decisions before changes are made and to drive continuous improvements. Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material and utilities, and provide technical guidance on issues and problems using Six Sigma Methodologies and 7 Step Problem Solving Technique.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management or related field (employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management or related field) and 4 years of experience as an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Assembly & Test Engineering practices and principles; Continuous process improvement through deployment of 5S, Kaizen, Error Proofing and Value Stream Mapping; Manufacturing Health and Safety Fundamentals; Variable Geometry Turbocharger Balancing Process; New Product Development; Equipment and capital procurement; New Product Introduction; Data mining and data visualization techniques; Manufacturing Business Model Application; Capital Project Management and Reporting; Manufacturing Analysis Led Design; Six Sigma Methodologies and 7 Step Problem Solving Technique.
