  1. REPORTING REQUIREMENT

The Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing.

  1. GENERAL SCOPE

The Nurse position is designed for an energetic Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed by the State of New Hampshire, and who possesses both strong clinical skills and the ability to communicate to Physicians, Residents, Family Members and Staff. The person in this position will also supervise LNA and MNA staff. The successful applicant must be highly motivated and able to function independently within the job responsibilities. The Nurse will make sound decisions and delegate/empower others to carry forth directives while supporting the Mission of the Taylor Community. Quality Resident Care and advocacy for Resident needs are essential. Flexibility and promotion of the team concept are essential.

  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ability to follow standards of nursing practice in the performance, documentation, and planning of Resident Care. Creation of the nursing care plan and participation in the multidisciplinary care plan team.
  2. Observation and assessment of Resident clinical conditions, including the monitoring of acute and/or chronic medical, surgical, orthopedic, or neurological conditions. Communicating and documenting to Administrators, Physicians, Director of Nursing, and responsible parties significant changes in Resident status.
  3. Supervising Resident care provided by the Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) and assisting with the orientation and continued training of LNAs. Revision of LNA assignments as needed.
  4. Complete orientation program and follow all policies and standards required by the State of New Hampshire and the Taylor Community.
  5. Assist with infection control surveillance, education and prevention of infections.
  6. Assist the Director of Nursing and Administrative Assistant with scheduling and coverage of unassigned shifts.
  7. Willingness and flexibility to cover unassigned shifts as requested by the Director of Nursing.
  8. Participation in CQI projects as assigned.
  9. Coordination of necessary lab testing, interpretation of results and communication of results/need for change in treatment plan with doctors.
  10. Assistance with emergency procedures and coordination of emergency services.
  11. Obtain Provider orders as needed, obtain clarification orders, and relay necessary information to Providers as needed for care.
  12. Participate in and oversee administration of Resident medications and treatments.
  13. Communicate directly with Director of Nursing Services any care issues, personnel issues, or change of status in a timely fashion.
  14. Participation in scheduled emergency preparedness drills.
  15. Any other duties as assigned within the Nursing Scope of Practice.
