Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer/EIT for a full-time position based in our Kitchener, ON office.

The appropriately qualified applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting projects. They will be involved with but not be limited to: stormwater and watershed modelling, environmental assessments, hydrology, hydraulics, stream rehabilitation / natural channel design, in-field assessments and monitoring. Skills you will likely use or develop in this job include hydraulic and hydrologic modelling, water quality and quantity monitoring, data analysis, drainage design and report / proposal writing all in a friendly, fast-paced consulting engineering work environment at AECOM. This role offers the right candidate the potential for a fast upwards career progression within AECOM.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Build analytic and design skills.

  • Conduct and coordinate field investigations including culvert inspections, collection of water and soil samples

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems, including Visual OTTHYMO, EPA / PCSWMM and HEC-RAS.

  • Complete catchment hydrologic calculations to estimate production of design storm runoff, peak flows and related parameters.

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic assessments to facilitate engineering design of culverts, bridges, channels, hydraulic structures and stormwater management facilities under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, field scientists, drafting specialists, geospatial analysts and others to deliver large, complex assignments on behalf of a range of important clients.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Water Resources or Environmental Engineering with emphasis on water resources (hydrology, open channel hydraulics, drainage and stormwater management) + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Registered as EIT

Preferred Qualifications:

  • P.Eng in Ontario

  • Strong spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software skills

  • Working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as EPA SWMM/PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, GIS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including technical report writing

  • Desire to work as part of an integrated team to support the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects throughout the province

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $61,000.00 - $85,000.00.
