Description

This full-time opportunity will work with our Clinical Services Team and will report to the agency Safety Administrator. Responsibilities include:

  • Overall oversight and chair of the agency Safe Patient Handling Committee and its’ related activities relative to the Safe Patient Handling/Minimal Lift program including; assessing lifting and transfer techniques and equipment, providing ongoing training to agency staff on lifting and transfer techniques and equipment usage.

  • Maintain a Lifting equipment inventory database including make, model, serial number, location and date of purchase, as well as tracking all service and repairs for said equipment.

  • Liaison/point person with lift and transfer equipment vendors for purchases, repairs and service.

  • Investigate all lift and transfer related staff injuries to determine root causes, suggest corrective action and monitor follow up. Work with other members of the After Action Group to determine trends and report to the Agency Safety Committee.

  • Schedule and chair Fall Committee meetings, maintaining minutes, collating information to report quarterly to the agency Special Review Committee and the agency Safety Committee.

  • Work with the Safety Administrator and the Purchasing department to identify beds that meet OPWDD guidelines, including hospital/health care beds and vendors that can provide reliable, cost effective beds to meet safety guidelines. Help educate agency personnel regarding bed safety policies and regulations, and maintain an inventory of hospital/health care beds owned and/or leased by the agency or individuals in the care of the agency.

  • Coordinate wheelchair repairs, purchases, rentals to insure individual’s needs are met; and coordinate/run monthly wheelchair clinic.

  • Assess mobility and accessibility concerns for individuals under the care of the Arc Mid-Hudson in their home, work and community environments and make recommendations regarding the needs for adaptive equipment, durable medical equipment, and environmental modifications. Shall act as the point person to acquire recommended equipment and/or modifications.

    May be requested to perform other duties as they relate to Agency operations.

    HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday/Flexible

    STARTING SALARY: $ 24.04 to $ 28.01 per hour

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy, or related field required.

  • Experience in training, quality improvement, tracking healthcare outcomes, use of lift and transfer equipment, and life safety reviews.

  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Excel, Word, Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
