United States Fleet Forces Command PAINTER LEADER in Kings Bay Naval Base, Georgia

Summary You will serve as a PAINTER LEADER in the Preservation Shop (Code 970), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will discuss job briefings and readiness reviews with trade leaders, mechanics, RADCON technicians, and nuclear inspectors and attempts to resolve work problems at the lowest level possible. You will be responsible for the preparation and painting of surfaces in support of nuclear work, refueling/defueling work, or within radiologically controlled areas. You will take appropriate action to prevent and/or overcome bottlenecks, equipment and power breakdowns, assuring that proper types and amounts of equipment are at the job site without tying up needed and expensive equipment unnecessarily. You will perform the review and documentation for completed jobs Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. While Serving as a project leader and supervising a group of employees. Ability to use and maintain tools, instruments, and related equipment as appropriate to one or more lines of work. While ensuring proper use of equipment and tools to do maintenance work including preventive maintenance, grinding, and setting tools, etc. Ability to adjust equipment to operating tolerances. Ability to interpret hand or mechanical signals, written directions with little to no supervision, requests, complaints, etc. received from customers, engineers, technicians, scientists, or the public and obtaining information about a limited subject such as materials to be used, sizes, operations to perform, changes in instructions, allowances, tolerances, etc Ability to utilize tools on rough, routine, fine or unusual work. Maintain, sharpen, adjust, etc. Ability to work independently, make decisions, plan operations, show job responsibility, and exercise initiative. Ability to operate painter systems and equipment understanding operational theory, check-out procedures, and having knowledge and skill to perform painter work. Ability to operate with dexterity and safety. Ability to ensure safe work practices and good housekeeping to assure timely tool, equipment, material, and procedure availability.
