A successful Job Coach will shadow an individual on their job and provide supports as needed for completion of various tasks.
Supports could be encouragement, supervision, verbal direction, modeling, or hand over hand training. The goal of the Job Coach is to provide real time training to the indivdiual with an understanding that intense supports will be faded and the individual will need to be independent on the job. The Job Coach will assist with establishing the timeline of the fading plan.
The Job Coach supports the individual when interacting with coworkers and their supervisors, and utlimately creating an overall good work ethic.
