ST. LOUIS GEAR, INC. Setup Engineer in KEOKUK, Iowa

St. Louis Gear Company, Inc. is seeking a Setup Engineer for its location at 10 Royal Road, Keokuk, IA 52632. The Setup Engineer will be responsible for performing setup engineering duties for operation of production machines to meet company quality and efficiency objectives; read and interpret blueprints, computer-generated reports, sketches and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, set-up procedures, controller setting and machining methods and sequences; direct modifications or generate programs where necessary, documenting changes and updates; load programs into machines from the server or disk and/or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions for CNC equipment; change gears, set stops and make adjustments as needed; print off all set-up sheets, control plans, operator instructions etc.; run simulations and single block through the program to ensure correct and functioning operation; oversee manufacturing process, investigate, troubleshoot process problems, and make all corrections required; manufacture part holding tools including the jaws required to hold the part; install and adjust all required tools, attachments, and necessary mechanical equipment (cutting and turning tools) and set to produce quality parts and products meeting requisite specs and customer needs; monitor, run a part, and perform full inspection utilizing micrometers, calipers, height stands, age blocks, optical comparator, indicators, centers and other various IMT equipment to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specs; recommend design modifications to eliminate system and machinery malfunctioning; verify operation is running to standard rate prior to release to production; setup operation equipment and submit first article part to Quality Assurance Process Auditor for verification; determine frequency of tool changes by observing tool wear and product quality; train operators, making adjustments and replacing perishable tooling for operators; perform as machinery operator when machine set ups are not required including performance of all quality checks required utilizing various IMT equipment; ability to lift metal stock or parts manually or using hoists and position and secure them in machine; support and enforce corporate quality policies, procedures, guidelines provided by the QS-9000 Quality Standards; and authority to stop production and non-conforming product to seek resolution of potential problems and concerns.Candidates must have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and two years of related experience. Required experience must include two years of experience in the following areas: reading and interpreting blueprints and computer-generated reports, modifying, generating and loading programs for CNC equipment, manufacture of part holding tools, installation and adjustment of required tools and mechanical equipment including cutting and turning tools, performing full inspections utilizing micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, optical comparator, and various IMT equipment.
