Job Title: Food Quality Assurance Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Specialist with at least 3 years of progressive responsibility in a quality control technician or lead role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical ability and food safety decision-making competency.
Responsibilities
Assist the Quality Assurance Manager and Director by overseeing day-to-day quality assurance operations, including the monitoring and verification of HACCP and SQF procedures, and regulatory projects.
Act as a backup to the QA Manager in their absence.
Prepare quality control charts and procedures for all products manufactured and oversee their correctness.
Direct collection of samples of products from operating lines and swabs when needed, check and record product weights, specifications.
Inform production supervisors of out-of-tolerance weights, color, or other issues.
Visually inspect labeling, date-coding, and packaging of finished products and inform production supervisors and Quality Control Manager of out-of-tolerance labeling, incorrect coding, or the need for new or enhanced procedures.
Standardize, calibrate, and utilize QA equipment such as thermometers, metal detectors, and weight scales.
Supervise the upkeep and accuracy of standardization logs for the calibration of equipment and testing procedures.
Prepare data and perform computer data entry to record information regarding all test results consistent with current documented procedures, written or verbal instruction from the QA manager, or company policy.
Inspect ingredients, processes, and products and inform the QA manager of any substandard quality, characteristics, or attributes.
Supervise the maintenance and rotation of retention samples or rework inventory and remove old inventory.
Monitor employee health and sanitation practices.
Possess the authority to stop, hold, divert, or retain batches or finished products when test or weight check results indicate that corrective action is necessary to meet established quality or customer parameters.
Participate in plant sanitation projects, mandatory training, and overtime work.
Receive certification on how to create training in Alchemy software and create/improve internal trainings. Administer training to QA and Production employees for day-to-day process improvement.
Migrate existing documentation and daily verifications to a paperless software program.
Initiate CAPAs with a cross-functional team when non-conformances occur.
Input data from various programs and track and trend for continuous improvement.
Oversee major programs such as Master Sanitation.
Conduct monthly internal facility audits.
Maintain good relations with USDA.

Work Environment
Temperatures can be extreme (cold) depending on the season and the area of work. The role requires standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, and collecting organoleptic data. The ability to lift at least 60 pounds is necessary. The position also requires finger dexterity for manipulating objects, effective communication skills, and the ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
