Aerotek Assembler - Aerospace in KENT, Washington

Description:

Perform a series of some advanced operations and/or complicated assemblies using a variety of hand tools, power tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to properly assemble sheet metal aircraft components. Inspect completed work for conformance to Production Planning, verbal and written instructions, sketches and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Using hand and power tools, scribe, grind, punch, deburr, fit, and drill a variety of sheet metal detail parts, sub-assemblies or complete units by adjusting alignment and mating pieces to typical and close tolerances.

May perform sizing, riveting, reaming, spot welding, seam welding, poke tacking and braze preparation.

Detect and provide input for resolution to faulty operations.

May prepare and develop schedules on spot welding, seam welding, riveting and fastener installation.

Perform more complex repairs.

Ability to work with details and assemblies that are at the high or low ends of conformance to produce a quality product.

May do TIG-tacking for assembly purposes.

Check for prescribed dimensions in jigs, fixtures or with calipers, micrometers, height gages and other inspection devices

Follow and accurately interpret written instructions and drawings, planning, sketches and best practice worksheets.

Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

Ensure proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.

Train others in multiple areas and on a variety of skills.

Improve processes and tools.

Resolve most challenges and complex problems. Proactively engages Engineering and Supervision to resolve recurring and most complex issues.

Aids in development of new jobs.

May oversee others.

Required Experience

Skills and Experience:

Has experience in multiple cells and can move to various work areas easily, having a mastery of all steps of a process.

Fully proficient in interpreting manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, specifications, including views, symbols, revision control and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Few limitations but knows what they are and stops and finds appropriate interpretation when necessary.

Must be able to use mathematics relevant to functions.

Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.

Full competency to assess personal work, that of the work center and champions flow and Lean Principles.
