Catholic Community Services Administrative Assistant (on-call) - Kent Family Center in Kent, Washington

On-callposition starting at $21.11 - $22.38/hr (D.O.E)

Catholic Community Services of King County offers an array of programs and services to help people in poverty. Several programs operate out of the Kent Family Center including: the South King County Emergency Shelters, the Emergency Assistance Program, the Housing and Essential Needs Program, Volunteer Services, Supportive Services for Veteran Families, transitional housing programs for single adults and families, and others. The Kent Family Center is committed to serve those most vulnerable and in need, and to change systems that cause discrimination, suffering and oppression due to age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.

Responsibilities

Provide front desk and facilities administration support

  • Greet and direct clients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.

  • Monitor and direct incoming phone calls to the South King County Family Center.

  • Hand out program applications and make referrals to resources.

  • Coordinate the meeting room reservations.

    Provide walk-in clients with available donations.

  • Meet the needs of walk-in clients by disbursing bus tickets, hygiene and other miscellaneous items.

  • Complete the necessary documentation for donations.

    Daily maintenance and staff support for the copier and fax machine

  • Support and assist staff with operations of copier and fax machine.

  • Call vendors for maintenance and repair needs.

    Assist with Family Center mail

  • Distribute mail to the Family Center programs.

  • Hand out mail to clients from programs.

    Physical and Mental Acuity Requirements

  • Able to hear telephone rings, phone conversation and face-to-face conversation, door bells and emergency alarms.

  • Able to speak clearly in person and on the telephone.

  • Able to hand write legibly.

  • Vision that enables person to read normal size print and handwritten notes; and distance and peripheral vision than enables person to monitor living spaces and identify concerns that require staff response.

  • Able to sit for sustained periods of time.

  • Able to walk the entire building and ascend and descend stairs quickly to move from one floor to another in order to respond to emergency situations.

  • Mobility/dexterity of hands/arms to enable keying into a unit or other locked area as well as using computers and other office equipment.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and to work independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.

  • Regularly able to perform duties as assigned.

  • Able to make independent decisions and apply sound judgment in performing job duties.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with low-income and homeless populations.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office applications.

  • Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.

  • Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork.

  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.

  • Criminal history background checks are required prior to employment.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a second language spoken by the clients of the South King County office.

  • Associate degree and/or Bachelor’s degree.
