Job Title: Welder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Welder with a minimum of 3 years of MIG welding experience. The ideal candidate must have experience working with mid-grade or heavy steel and aluminum, and at least 3 years of blueprint reading experience. The compensation is based on the quality of welds, experience, and attitude, with a shift premium for 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Review job orders (written or verbal) and interpret welding specifications according to code certifications, alignment, dimensional, and general inspection requirements.

  • Set up jobs, fit, and position weldments using fixtures, jigs, etc., and vary welding techniques, materials, and equipment within recognized limits or procedures.

  • Perform welding and related tasks such as surface preparation, thermal cutting, grinding, etc.

  • Inspect welds and welded surfaces for proper bonds.

  • Clean and maintain work area (daily), welding equipment, and other tools of the trade.

  • Work in a safe manner at all times.

  • Ensure that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to ISO and Quality standards.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of MIG welding experience.

  • Experience working with mid-grade or heavy steel and aluminum.

  • At least 3 years of blueprint reading experience.

  • Ability to read and understand weld specs, shop drawings, job layouts, and blueprints.

  • Knowledge of standard welding principles and techniques including oxyacetylene welding, arc welding, and inert gas welding (e.g., TIG, MIG).

  • Skill in using and maintaining welding equipment and related tools of the trade.

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have own weld helmet and gear.

  • Experience with large weldments (CAT, Joy Global, CNH, Automotive, Ag, Construction, etc.).

  • Formal apprenticeship training is desirable but not essential.

  • Fork lift operator certification.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a clean and organized facility that is not temperature controlled, which means it can get hot in the summer. You'll work in a welding shop, metal fabrication/assembly shop, and will be exposed to hot objects, glare, sparks, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, and moving mechanical equipment. Personal protective equipment such as flame-resistant overclothing, safety mask and shield, safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection will be provided. The first shift runs from 5am-1:30pm Monday-Friday, and the second shift runs from 1:30pm-12am Monday-Thursday with optional overtime on Friday. The company is currently focusing on building industrial radiators for warehouses, production facilities, and data centers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
