Responsibilities
As a Construction Materials Testing Field Technician , you will be responsible for conducting on-site testing of concrete, soils, and other construction materials. You will utilize a company-provided vehicle to travel to various job sites within the area. We offer comprehensive on-the-job training, as well as the possibility of obtaining future certifications in construction materials testing.

Ensure that all testing equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy, and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle
Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures
Travel to various job sites in a company-provided vehicle to perform sampling and testing on construction materials, such as concrete, soils and asphalt
Return samples to the office for testing
Report data in an accurate, complete, timely, and understandable fashion in accordance with applicable testing procedures
Operating testing equipment; ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly and maintained as required by the company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle
Operate a motor vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep)
Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required; cellular phones are to be worn at all times, and calls are to be returned immediately
Regular attendance is required; technicians must arrive on time for scheduled jobs
Prepare testing reports using Field Data Collection (FDC) software; ability to write and retrieve emails using Microsoft Outlook
Must be willing to travel within the state of Alabama, if applicable
Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy
Turn in required paperwork daily
Regular attendance is required
Must be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs; overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needs
Follow all company safety procedures and policies
Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
You must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
You will need a valid driver's license with an acceptable record
Working with concrete will require you to have the ability to lift 50-75 pounds repeatedly with or without accommodations
Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients
Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports
Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
