Summary:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs quality assurance oversight of all phases of manufacture (or remanufacture) of major equipment, both on vendor's property and NJ TRANSIT property, by conducting thorough quality inspections.

  • Establishes systems for monitoring performance of new and rebuilt equipment during testing and revenue service utilizing computer databases. Produces reports weekly or on demand.

  • Maintains close contact with vendor and equipment during testing and revenue service, and assists with technical problems that arise. Submits warranty claims, and follows-up to assure quick and appropriate action by vendor.

  • Develops new procedures and revises existing ones for maintenance of equipment, including Standard Maintenance Procedures, Rail Operating Procedures and Maintenance Bulletins.

  • Works closely with Rail Operations/Mechanical in shops and at outlying facilities throughout the system to make improvements to the maintenance process and support the operation.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Engineering or related area.

  • Good oral and written communication skills required.

  • Must have good working knowledge of Windows programs, including MS Word and Excel.

  • One (1) year experience in Quality Assurance or an engineering field can be substituted for each year of the educational requirement.
