About this role:
The Tooling Assistant focuses on supporting shop operations by organizing, cleaning, maintaining machines, managing tooling inventory, and assisting in dispensing tools and tool kits to operators, often including tasks like rebuilding and setting up tooling.
Needs assessment: Responsible for repairs on small tools, managing inventory, understanding how to use equipment, and maintaining and managing tool room clerical functions.
Tool selection: Managing and maintaining tools, equipment, and materials, including receiving, storing, and issuing them, as well as maintaining accurate records, along with inspecting tools for defects, perform basic repairs, and ensure the tool room is organized and safe.
Implementation planning: Assist in the efficient and effective use of tooling within a manufacturing or production environment, ensuring tools are available, maintained, and used correctly, while also contributing to the planning and implementation of tooling- related projects.
Pay:This is a non-exempt/hourly position. The pay range is $18/hour - $20/hour. Pay may vary depending on your skills and experience.
What You'll Do
Business acumen:
Assist with Pick Tickets Preparation: Help select and prepare tickets for jobs, ensuring tools meet required standards.
Tooling Cleanup and Organization: Clean, organize, and prepare tools received from the field for future use.
Packaging and Logistics Support: Assist with packaging, loading, and unloading tools.
Training and Identification: Learn and follow cleanup procedures and help identify tools that meet standards.
Inventory Reporting: Assist in reporting tooling quantities and items received from jobs, ensuring proper returns from job sites.
Project management: Ensuring the support of the project manager by managing tooling, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring they are available, maintained, and used effectively, while also assisting with administrative tasks and project documentation.
User training: Assist in the design, development, and implementation of training programs related to tooling processes and equipment, ensuring users are proficient and safe in their use.
Data migration: Assist in the process of moving data from one system to another, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. This involves using tools, documenting processes, and collaborating with teams to streamline data migration projects.
Monitoring and optimization: Maintaining and improving tooling systems, ensuring efficient production, identifying areas for improvement, and collaborating with teams to implement solutions, while adhering to safety standards.

High school diploma or equivalent.
