Burns & McDonnell Senior Project Engineer (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

Manage overall engineering design efforts for Design-only and EPC projects on 2.4kV to 34.5kV overhead and underground utility distribution systems. Prepare and manage final engineering scopes of work and man-hour budgets. Manage implementation of Quality Program for engineering designs. Manage independent quality/completeness reviews of engineering deliverables. Apply knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods, knowledge of distribution system equipment, and utilize GIS information to aid in design. Perform and interpret electrical calculations and studies. Direct and manage field engineering services. Manage engineering design schedule, budget and progress measurement functions with project controls teams. Manage, prepare and submit client change orders. Lead engineering preparation of subcontract plan and subcontractor bid and award packages. Manage and expedite vendor and fabrication shop progress. Manage preparation of and/or prepare monthly client status reports. Manage meetings and review meetings status. Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Primarily domestic travel up to 25% of travel based on project needs. Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a directly related engineering field from an ABET accredited program plus seven (7) years of engineering experience managing design efforts for design-only and EPC projects for overhead and underground utility distribution systems. Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure required.

Must have seven (7) years of experience in each of the following:

  • Knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods and distribution system equipment.

  • Experience conducting distribution field inspections.

  • Understanding of distribution power flow.

  • Experience with various distribution design tools, as well as GIS to aid in design.

  • Knowledge of the NESC or GO95/GO128 rules and how they apply to distribution design.

  • Knowledge regarding easements, right-of-way, and permitting.

Alternatively, the employer will also accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus six (6) years of engineering experience managing design efforts for design-only and EPC projects for overhead and underground utility distribution systems in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus of seven (7) years of described experience. Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure is required.

Must have six (6) years of experience in each of the following:

  • Knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods and distribution system equipment.

  • Experience conducting distribution field inspections.

  • Understanding of distribution power flow.

  • Experience with various distribution design tools, as well as GIS to aid in design.

  • Knowledge of the NESC or GO95/GO128 rules and how they apply to distribution design.

  • Knowledge regarding easements, right-of-way, and permitting.

Primarily domestic travel up to 25% of travel based on project needs. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year.
