Job Description
We're seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Abstractor to support efforts in understanding and preventing fetal and infant deaths. You’ll gather, review, and summarize sensitive medical records and conduct interviews with bereaved families. These case summaries inform multidisciplinary review teams and help drive recommendations to improve community health systems. You'll also facilitate team meetings and contribute to data analysis, reporting, and community-based action planning.
What You’ll Do
Review medical records and conduct interviews with families to create case summaries
Coordinate with hospitals and agencies to collect needed records and data
Maintain HIPAA-compliant databases and ensure confidentiality at all times
Facilitate and organize Case Review Team and Community Action Team meetings
Analyze data and trends to support review findings and public health recommendations
Collaborate with community partners to create action plans that improve care and resources
Support education and outreach efforts with culturally appropriate information
Assist in reporting, presentations, and dashboard development for county health metrics
Serve as liaison to interviewers, agencies, and medical record departments
Minimum Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Active RN license in Missouri
At least 1 year of clinical experience (preferably in OB, pediatrics, neonatology, or perinatology)
Experience in home visiting, outreach, or conducting interviews
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong written/verbal communication and group facilitation skills
Experience in data collection, presentations, and report writing
Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to work with diverse communities and interdisciplinary partners
Must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy if driving is required
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in public health, nursing, social work, or related field
3+ years of professional or administrative experience
Clinical background in pediatrics, obstetrics, neonatology, or perinatology
Training in bereavement counseling
Experience working with grant-funded programs
Bilingual in Spanish and English
