QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Missouri Administrative certification appropriate for the specific level.
  2. Degree(s) required and area of major study.
  3. Experience needed for the specific assignment.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

REPORTS TO:Executive Director, Academic Services7-12

JOB GOAL:To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
  2. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet the schools specific needs.
  3. Keeps the supervisor informed of the school's activities and
  4. Is responsible for the management and preparation of the school budget.
  5. Keeps supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor's accountability.
  6. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students.
  7. Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
  8. Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
  9. Assists in developing, revising, and evaluating the building-level implementation of the district curriculum.
  10. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to due process rights of students.
  11. Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities.
  12. Assumes responsibility for his or her own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations; attendance at regional, state, and national meetings; and enrollment in advanced courses.
  13. Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and support personnel attached to the school.
  14. Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning and evaluating of the school's professional staff.
  15. Plans for and assists in the evaluation of all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
  16. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  17. Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant.
  18. Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes.
  19. Plans for and assists in supervising and evaluating the school's extracurricular program.
  20. Participates in principals' meetings, negotiations meetings, and such other meetings as required or appropriate.
  21. Establishes and maintains relationships and effective communication channels with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret Board policies and administrative directivesm and discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  22. Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
  23. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  24. Leads in the development of the schools mission and goals and programs/projects to achieve them.
  25. Works with a site-based shared decision team to accomplish building goals.
  26. Other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel.

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and ork calendar to be established by the Board Of Education (238 days or 12 months). Benefits according to Board policies.

RETIREMENT: Public School Retirement System (PSRS)

EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Administrator Evaluation process.
