Robert Half Staff Accountant in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant in the healthcare industry based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role will involve maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts, processing incoming payments, and providing backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts.

• Create and enter journal entries related to monthly business activities with appropriate documentation for backup.

• Process incoming payments by check, credit card, and EFT.

• Assist with cash forecasting and daily cash management.

• Oversee the commercial card program including issuances of credit cards, limit assignment, and termination of cards.

• Record and reconcile all ledger transactions in Representative Payee Manager and other software.

• Provide backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

• Perform internal audit of processes, procedures, and practices of the Finance Department.

• Embrace and support the company's philosophies related to diversity, inclusiveness and anti-racism.

• Maintain the confidentiality of all restricted information, data, and reports. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role, preferably within the Healthcare, Hospitals, or Social Assistance industries

• Proficiency in GAAP Accounting and US GAAP is required

• Experience with General Ledger is essential

• Candidates must have a strong understanding of financial regulations and legislation

• Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail are crucial

• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required

• Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
