Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Vice President and Chief Operating Officer CPG in Johnstown, Pennsylvania
Summary: Market Vice President provides leadership and direction in planning, directing and coordinating both patient and non-patient care activities. Oversees the daily operations and management of the medical practices. Responsibilities include accountability for operational and financial performance/outcomes for the various components of the organization. Provide visionary leadership, strategic direction and administration in the delivery of seamless services to internal and external customers of CPG. In conjunction with the strategic plan and corporate staff, provides results-oriented leadership, mission direction, and administration of all primary care activities of CPG to ensure quality health services cost effectively. Works closely with and develops partnerships with the CPG Medical Staff, Management Staff, and selected members of the Board of Directors to further the group primary care practice strategic initiatives. Oversees activities and duties and provides results-oriented leadership for appropriate primary care groupings in conjunction with the physician leader for that group. Develops and implements plans to maintain cost and improve financial performance for the Primary Group Practice.
Required: . Bachelor’s Degree in business and or related field; MBA. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in physician group practice management
Leadership Responsibilities
Responsible, either personally or through delegation, for the following:
integrates the department/services into the organization's primary functions;
coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intra departmental services;
develops and implements polices and procedures that guide and support the provision of services within the guidelines of HSC;
recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service;
determines the qualifications and competence of department/service staff who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners;
continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided;
maintains quality control programs, as appropriate;
orients and provides in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department/service;
recommends space and other resources needed by the department/service;
participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department/service or the organization;

Supervisory Responsibilities
Participate to some degree in each of the following responsibilities:
Hires and Transfers - Interviews, selects, and provides for training of employees.
Layoff and Recall - Recommends reduction in employee complement and initiates action, notifies employee(s) if conditions meet specific criteria.
Promotes and Evaluates - Independently evaluates and determines work assignments and evaluates job performance, recognizes performances.
Suspends and Discharges - Exercises employee suspensions or discharges authority.
Assigns and Directs - Work Grants overtime; assigns & schedules.
Adjusts Grievances - Meets with employees to listen to and resolve employee issues and adjust grievances.
Disciplines - Implements disciplinary action.
Exercises Supervisory Authority - Develops and implements department and/or hospital policy; insures all employees are trained in policy; exercises discretion, independent of policy to insure proper function of department or subdepartment.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall operational aspects of the physician group and strategic plan development and implementation.
Responsible for the financial performance, budgeting and growth for the practices
Develops a culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability and performance with a shared vision for the future.
Directs and implements the physician group’s mission and strategic plan to achieve its strategic and financial goals .
Develops and updates organizational design, management, and processes for maximum productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness .
Develops the physician recruitment plan each year and ensuring the needs of our medical staff development plan
Provides visible and approachable leadership enhancing working relationships among the staff and physicians.
In conjunction with HSC guidelines, responsible for all physician contracting, compensation, negotiations, and onboarding process for the physician group.
Identifies opportunities to enhance market share and financial position through development of partnerships, affiliations, and growth strategies.
Represents the clinic in its relationships with the Conemaugh Health System and collaborates with service line leaders to ensure the implementation of the strategic plan.
Serves as liaison and channel of communication between the board, physician leadership group, senior leadership team and the physician group, administrative staffs and HSC resources.
