Join the Delta Dental of Iowa team as aSenior Communications Consultant.You will develop and lead strategic communication programs designed to drive engagement, support the brand and communicate the company vision. You will be the primary writer for all corporate communications ensuring a consistent brand message and tone across all communication channels. Use your organizational skills to independently manage multiple integrated and complex projects while maintaining a strategic focus, aligned with timing, budget and audience. This is an opportunity to collaborate with internal subject matter experts and agency partners to execute various communications including press releases, social media, internal announcements, website, and events that align with company goals and objectives. You will help ensure our voice is consistent, authentic and deeply aligned with the communities we serve. This position is located in Johnston, Iowa.

Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage internal and external resources to create and execute communication projects including but not limited to internal announcements, product launches, events, public relations, presentations, newsletters, digital signage, intranet and videos. Responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Manage internal and external stakeholders’ expectations and keep them informed of changes within the process.

  • Primary writer for all corporate communications, working closely with the Communications Director to execute external as well as internal communications strategy ensuring a consistent brand message and tone across all communication channels.

  • Lead execution and coordination of external promotional or sponsorship events that drive customer engagement and elevate the Delta Dental brand.

  • Oversee and manage Delta Dental of Iowa’s social media strategy, content review process, real-time social media presence, maintenance and reporting on identified platforms.

  • Create and execute internal employee engagement campaigns, communications, and events in conjunction with Human Resources and Administration.

  • Support Delta Dental’s communications strategy and company goals by updating and modifying website content and images as needed.

  • Effectively manage and deliver internal and external communications through a variety of channels including social media, press releases, events, email marketing, website, brochures, video, etc.

  • Participate and manage DDPA collaborative projects, as well as participate in committees and subgroups as needed.

  • Support the management of the annual marketing and communications budget.

  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for consistent branding and messaging, internally and externally, online and off-line marketing.

  • Write and design communications to support company objectives using consistent branding and messaging both online and off-line marketing.

  • Lead day-to-day ad agency and external vendor partner relationships and projects.

  • Develop and support ongoing management of comprehensive editorial and promotional calendar.

  • Assist Director and marketing team in planning exercises and recording progress as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum of 10 years marketing/communications experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven experience developing, leading and managing all aspects of communications project/campaign. Concept development, managing the creative process, traditional and digital production experience, understanding of analytics and metrics.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube). Preferred experience in Adobe Creative Suite (design, video editing), but not necessary.

  • Effective analytical, problem solving and project management skills.

  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with and at times lead internal and external stakeholders in an effective and positive manner.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
