The Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioner (NP) provider will provide health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of physicians by performing comprehensive physical examinations and providing preop assessments, intraop and post op care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This is a non-operative role supporting the intensivist service.

Full-time, exempt and seeking both experienced and new, motivated graduate Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct patient care to critically ill cardiac patients, collaborating with and under the direction of physicians in the Cardiothoracic Surgery & Intensivist Program, following established standards and practices. The Nurse Practitioner will also initiate arrangements for hospital discharges and complete appropriate paperwork along with administering and ordering diagnostic test and interpreting the test results for deviations from normal. They will develop and implement patient management plans, electronic medical records progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care and instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.

VA and VV ECMO, IABP and Impella VADS

Growing TAVR and Minimally Invasive Valve Program

On pump, Off Pump, Hybrid and MICS CABG program

Comprehensive Minimally Invasive Thoracic and Foregut Surgery Program  

Minimum requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with ANCC or AANP certification. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program. Three years professional nursing experience in a clinical setting. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situation. CPR, ACLS and PALS certified and must maintain certification during employment. Preferable characteristics: Previous critical care experience (ie. CVICU, ICU or Emergency Department ) .
