In this role, the Brand Manager, is responsible to uncover consumer and customer insights, deliver innovative marketing campaigns and generate strategies that grow market share and the brand’s reputation, improve customer experience and drive sales and margin growth.

Leads and directs all marketing activities for the assigned brand or business to achieve growth, market share and profit objectives in line with the overall business priorities.

Leads the implementation of the omni-channel (i.e., integrating traditional, digital, and CRM channels to deliver a unified customer experience) marketing strategy and tactics and provide appropriate support to affiliates to assure the commercial success of assigned Abbott Diabetes Care brands.

Plan, develop and direct marketing efforts for Abbott Diabetes Care brands available in South Africa, to

ensure profitable growth.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  1. Accountable for designated portfolio performance as per communicated quarterly / annual targets.

  2. Prepare, coordinate, support and implement annual brand plans.

  3. Initiate and oversee planning of healthcare professional (HCP), hospitals and pharmacy

promotion to drive performance of products within portfolio. Determine to-market strategies and sales tactics to achieve sales objectives.

  1. Management of agencies to implement plans, create promotional material.

  2. Ensure sales force adoption of key promotional activities through product and campaign training to sales force on a regular basis.

  3. Monitoring of allocated annual advertising and promotion (A&P) budgets.

  4. Review promotional budget monthly, manage changes as required and communicate at proposed forecast stage.

  5. Ensuring that the product and marketing efforts are aligned with company’s overall strategy and goals.

  6. Ensure up to date promotional material are localized from global baseline material, approved in

Veeva by all relevant approvers and in line with ADC Promo Standard Operating Procedures

  1. Maintain up to date promotional item trackers and manage the allocation of promo items accordingly.

  2. Creating monthly social media messaging themes, approved content and overseeing the community management thereof.

  3. Assist with planning, securing approvals and execution of external HCP meetings and events.

  4. Assist with planning and execution of internal sales meetings.

  5. Point of contact for all compliance related questions from OEC relevant to marketing initiatives, events and HCP agreements

  6. Coordinating the formulation of sound marketing strategies for each promoted product in line with marketing excellence principles as well as portfolio, financial and strategic objectives to ensure full implementation.

  7. Understanding financial and business considerations impacting both the company capabilities and readiness to support a strategic drive via new product and/or service introduction.

  8. Developing and sustaining productive customer relationships.

  9. Managing company resources consistent with company compliance and quality policies to achieve organizational goals.

  10. Maintain rapport with national key opinion leaders in the market to identify trends, competitor activities and new opportunities.

  11. Ensure monthly field visits are organized with individual representatives both for personal development and solid feedback of the strategies.

Minimum Skills Required: Experience Required:

• Understanding of digital marketing

• Sound organizational skills, financial acumen and ability to multi-task.

• Product launch and brand planning experience is

• Strong interpersonal relations and customer focus.

• Strong ability to interpret sales & marketing figures + market / trend analysis.

• Proven ability to positively influence crossfunctional teams, or individual team members without formal authority.

• Energetic, self – starter, reliable and proven customer centric approach.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Computer literacy: Excel, PowerPoint, is essential.

• Minimum of 5 years sales or brand management experience within medical

devices preferred.

• Experience in working with market data / market analysis (IMS, Impact Rx, etc.)

• Understanding and knowledge of the diabetes market in South Africa, including key opinion leaders.

Knowledge / Education Required:

• Tertiary qualification in Health Sciences and/or Business Sciences or equivalent.

• Experience in sales or marketing of medical devices

• Additional, Marketing qualification/IMM/Commercial qualification
