Job Description

An excellent opportunity to be part of international multi-functional team with global responsibility focusing on equipment, packaging, packing manufacturing process development and Standardization. Project deliverables determine the way LEGO products are!

The position holder will join the frontend innovation task force based in Jiaxing, China to support the new technology incubation and global roll-out when it’s ready.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supports Greenfield Automation project throughout various development sub-projects & discoveries.

  • Proposes and concepts sketch with the project team to realize the desired features and functions with clear design outlook.

  • Works closely with team to safeguard the smooth connection towards R&D processes and frameworks, to avoid fundamental conflicts.

  • Continually works towards project deliverables and organization’s critical metric fulfillment.

  • Actively handles project risks and opportunities towards desirable outcome for the company.

  • Closely monitors the project outlooks, to ensure the good readiness of compliance towards relevant norms, directives and EHS requirements after Proof of Concept is proven workable and gets standardized.

  • Supports platform ownership process and its activities.

  • Actively participates in department activities and tasks.

The purpose of Research & Development, Packing and Packaging organization (R&D P&P) is to support and implement Engineering & Quality (E&Q) business plan by ensuring all new products are assembled and packed into optimal packaging in efficient manner on standardized equipment platforms.R&D P&P generally ensures foundation for global production of LEGO products by focusing on:

· Development projects - Innovating and optimizing equipment platforms into next generation platforms by combining a modern technology and consumer trends operating within 1-5 years’ time horizon with aim to deliver groundbreaking innovation to The LEGO Group to maintain market leading position.

· Platform ownership – Leading, maintaining and standardizing of approved technology platforms by securing standard methodology sharing, process alignment and continuous improvement initiatives across all LEGO plants.

· Capacity and capability planning - Globally introducing new platforms to production sites and supporting its installations, ramp ups and handovers in respective locations to build relevant knowledge and establish dedicated independent factories producing on standardized platforms with globally aligned processes.

R&D P&P team located in Billund, DK and Kladno, CZ is responsible for packing platforms (equipment), packaging platforms (materials, constructions), product master data and global industrial engineering.

R&D Equipment Development team is entirely located in Kladno, CZ with global responsibility for packing equipment – prepack (machines for packing LEGO products into bags) & final pack (machines for packing LEGO products into paper boxes and other non-standard final packaging).

Do you have what it takes?

  • Technical Secondary School or Degree at Technical University. is preferred. Preferably with Mechanical Design and Customized equipment development experience.

  • Overall work experience: 4+ years in engineering area

(preferably in global environment due to daily communication in foreign language, dealing with diverse cultures, working across time zones).

  • Experience with development, design and construction of equipment.

  • Experience with procuring and installing new equipment.

  • Knowledgeable about new technologies and innovative consumer trends.

  • Able to read and write equipment design requirements (e.g. LEGO Technical Specification).

  • Ability to understand technical drawings (AutoCAD, 3D models).

  • Ability to understand equipment documentation (user manuals, …).

  • Microsoft Office bundle at user level.

  • Past experiences in technical development projects.

  • Understanding of safety and ergonomic requirements (e.g. Machine Safety directive, CE marking).

  • Knowledge of quality and lean tools is an advantage.

  • SAP experience at basic user level is an advantage.

  • Willingness to travel up to 60 days / year.
