It is the responsibility of the Professional Nurse to implement the Hospital's Mission and goals through established policies, procedures and performance improvement activities. Implementation of these goals occurs through organization and administration of individualized age specific professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital. The understanding of the principles of growth and development will be incorporated to assess each patient's age specific needs and determine age specific treatment modalities.Additional RequirementsTo qualify you must have a current RN License in NJ, a BSN BLS and ACLS credentials. Minimum 1 year of hospital experience, Excellent Customer Service and Communication Skills. RN s are required to work every other weekend. Answers telephone/ intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to appropriate personnel / family. Assists with the precepting of new employees. Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate individual (i.e., MD, supervisor, discharge planner, etc.). Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines. Contributes to the unit s overall patient satisfaction score by doing regular rounding, escalation of complaints and providing service recovery. Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associate s competence and patient care needs. Demonstrates principles of self-care and supports peers. Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department. Initiates/develops/revises multidisciplinary plan of care and initiates discharge planning and teaching in accordance with department standards and using appropriate tools. Integrates psychosocial, physical nutritional and rehabilitation needs of the patient within the plan of care. Performs all other duties as assigned. Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified tools. Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedures, safety guidelines and infectious disease principles. Promotes patient flow efforts by actively participating in patient movement and escalating barriers to management. Promotes patient satisfaction through individual activities as evidenced by feedback from patients and families. Promotes the professional image of nursing through community activities (hospital committees, civic organizations, parish nursing, volunteerism, etc.). Provides patient/family education according to the plan of care and documents same. Provides shift to shift report. Sets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals. Utilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care.
